Smooth documentation
Smooth is two things. Smooth Assistant is a ready-made AI assistant you text on Telegram. Smooth Agent is an open-source agent you run on your own machine with your own keys. This is the guide to both.
Pick your Smooth
Both are the same idea: an assistant that lives in your messages, remembers what matters and gets work done on a real computer, asking before anything important. The difference is who runs it:
| Smooth Assistant | Smooth Agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | We do, on Smooth's servers | You do, on your laptop, VPS or Docker |
| Setup | Press Start in Telegram | One-line installer, about 5 minutes |
| AI model | Included in your plan | Bring your own key: OpenAI, DeepSeek, GLM, Groq, OpenRouter, Kimi, local models and more |
| Chat apps | Telegram (WhatsApp coming soon) | Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack, Matrix, LINE, WeChat Work, Discord |
| Price | Free, Pro $9, Scale $29, Max $59 a month | Free software. You pay your model provider directly |
| Best for | Everyone who wants it to just work | Developers, privacy-minded people, teams with their own infra |
A full side-by-side is in Smooth Assistant vs Smooth Agent.
